See Your
Doctor or
Nurse Practitioner

Discuss a referral to CheckMark, the pharmacy spot check service. It’s free with your BC health card (MSP).

If you don’t have a primary doctor or nurse-practitioner, we’ll help you get a referral from a walk-in doctor.

Visit a
Participating
Pharmacy

You’ll get a link to choose your time after your referral has been processed. We offer weekend appointments and most patients are seen 1 to 2 weeks from referral. At the pharmacy, you’ll answer a few questions, and a trained staff member will take clear photos of the spot.

A
Dermatologist Reviews
the Spot

A dermatologist will look at the images and send a report to your doctor—usually within one week.

If, based on your images, the dermatologist is concerned for skin cancer or isn’t sure, they will expedite an in-person assessment and any needed biopsies.
